Kenwood Residence
This house incorporates the same materials used in a rammed earth wall structure except the materials are delivered in much the same way as conventional gunite. It is often referred to as shot earth. This method allows for a more rapid and cost effective placement of the materials and still has the strength and distinctive look of a natural earth wall. The house was very difficult to construct since the design was controlled by a specific radius point as can be seen in the main center wall section, the adjoining patio and steps to the pool and spa, concrete belly band at upper walls, and the stairs to the guest and main bedrooms. Note the custom louver radius sound panels in the living room ceiling above the piano area. There are specialty finishes throughout including poured-in-place polished concrete counters, Brazilian cherry floors and stairs, and a beautiful glass tile master bath.
